Rural Access
I use TELUS dialup. the maximum thruput is 28.8 kbps. The broadband service thru the Supernet project is not available in this area Sherwood Park County - east district served out of the Ardrossan Telco office & there has been very little effort to make it avaialble, thru Supernet. As far as i know approximately 25% if not greater, of rural Alberta using the the internet is on Dialup service. There are limited boundaries in many communities to my knowledge. I have not heard of much progress to bring this service to the last mile thru the best method available , utilizing the copper cable structure available existing to every household in the province for the last mile & the fiber that was laid to the POP sites the BELL & supernet, paid by the taxpayers . Some counties were fortunate to have level terrain & Supernet thru ISP's using point to point radio gave pockets of service. We need a provincial initiated project to complete the last mile like the Lougheed, Getty regime provided, taking all Albertans off the parties lines.
Does this forum have any attendees that can see the whole picture & offer a better solution ?
